A Koehler base illuminator uses a tungsten halogen bulb for 30 watts of illuminating power using a 115 volt power source. Fully rotatable substage polarizer with click stops at the common angular settings of 0 degrees and 90 degrees. Ball bearing quadruple nosepiece with the following strain-free objectives: 4X; 10X; and a retractable 40X. The wide field, high eyepoint 10X eyepieces, one of which includes a focusing cross line, provide a total magnification of 40X, 100X and 400X. The analyzer, sliding into the limb of mocroscope allows for an East-West insertion, provides for a darkening of the background. Slide opening in the limb of the mocroscope for the Southeast-Northwest insertion of the mica 1/4 wave plate or the first order red compensating plate. Also includes a strain free achromatic condenser with aperture iris diaphragm and swing out filter holder. Microscope body is inclined to a 30 degree comfort standard, with full rotation of viewing system to accommodate a variety of positions.
